Environment and sustainability

Our planet has provided us with an abundance of natural resources, but we humans have not used them responsibly and are now consuming far more than our planet can sustain. For example, did you know that 1/3 of the food produced is thrown away? Achieving sustainable development requires us to reduce our ecological footprint by changing the way we produce and consume goods and resources (source Globalamalen.se).

Through the collaboration between Telge Återvinning and Tom Tits Experiment, all Södertälje's preschools and schools are offered free training in environmental sustainability.

Lecture - Recycle and become an environmentalist

For preschool teachers

A preschool uses a lot of material resources, from diapers and wipes to paint cartridges, batteries and crayons. By using their own preschool's work with recycling and reuse, children's understanding of the importance of sustainable consumption and production is promoted.

The training aims to give you in-depth knowledge of how recycling works and a variety of suggestions on how sustainability can be brought to life through stories, pictures and activities in nature.

Time required: 2 hours
Location: Tom Tits Experiment or in your own preschool (within Södertälje municipality)

For primary school teachers

A school uses a lot of material resources, from copy paper and erasers to paint cartridges, batteries and skipping ropes. Using their own school's work on recycling and reuse as a starting point will help students understand the importance of sustainable consumption and production.

The training aims to give participants in-depth knowledge of environmental sustainability, how recycling works in Södertälje municipality and knowledge of the environmental goals we have to relate to at local, national and international level. The training combines theory with concrete suggestions on how participants can work with goal 12 in their teaching.

Time required: 1 h 30 min
Location: Tom Tits Experiment or on site at the school (within Södertälje municipality)
